This is George Green’s magnetic ring.
Locked up in the tape there are 20 neodymium magnets, all with North at the center. Putting this strip magnets on a magnetic spinning top with the south facing upwards … incredible, the top begins to turn. This movement is caused by the particular arrangement of the magnets that create a magnetic vortex field.
