The phenomenon is governed by Laplace’s second law (often integrated into the definition of the Lorentz force for conductors), which states that a conducting wire of length L, carrying a current I and immersed in a magnetic field B, experiences a magnetic force F expressed by the formula:
F = I . (L x B)
(Where x indicates the vector product).
We can analyze the direction of the forces using the right-hand rule Thumb Direction of the current (I) passing through the crossbar (from one rail to the other). Index finger: Direction of the magnetic field (B) pointing vertically upwards coming from the magnets.Palm/Middle finger: Direction of the resultant force (F), which pushes the bar forward (or backward if the polarity of the current is reversed).

I finally made a magnetic Speed Cube out of dice, and it’s incredibly satisfying to play with. Okay, so you can’t set a speedcuber record with it, but it’s solid and compact.
All the magnets in the yellow cubes are south-polarized, and all the magnets in the blue cubes are north-polarized.
